Project Overview
We were contacted by a homeowner in Staple Hill who had just completed a bathroom renovation β but the electrics were still stuck in the 1980s. There were old cables with brittle insulation, a lack of RCD protection, and zero IP-rated fittings. Not ideal in a room that sees moisture every day.
Initial Inspection: The Issues We Found
- Original wiring from the 70s β no earth continuity
- Basic pull-cord light with a cracked pendant fitting
- No extraction β risk of damp and mould
- Fuseboard not up to 18th Edition standards
We advised a full bathroom rewire, fuseboard upgrade, and installation of proper lighting and ventilation.
What We Did
As NAPIT registered electricians, we provided a detailed quote, timeline and scope before starting. Here's what we carried out:
- Full bathroom electrical rewire with new PVC cable
- LED IP65-rated spotlights installed to Zone 1 requirements
- Quiet, humidistat-controlled extractor fan fitted with external vent
- Electric mirror with dual-voltage shaver socket (IP44 rated)
- New RCBO consumer unit to safely support bathroom circuits
Before & After: A Massive Difference
The before shots showed tired fittings, poor lighting, and potentially dangerous cabling. After the upgrade? A sleek, safe, and compliant setup that matches the modern style of the renovated bathroom β and peace of mind for the homeowner.
Customer Feedback
βThe team at Burridge Electrical were brilliant. I didnβt realise how dangerous the old setup was, and now I feel 100% safer. The spotlights and mirror finish it off perfectly. Would highly recommend to anyone in Bristol.β
