Do I need an Electrician to install my EV charger?
Unless you are a registered electrician that is competent in installing EV charging stations, you can not do it yourself. Always hire a certified installer. Using a registered electrician may prove to be more expensive in the short term , but it is important to make sure the EV charger is installed safely and properly and it complies with all the regulations.
Warranty and insurances
If the charger is not installed by a certified electrician then the EV charger may lose its warranty, and if a fault occurs that causes damages to your property your insurance company may not pay out if you do not have the correct paper work for the installation.
Electrical safety
Installing an EV charging station safely requires expert knowledge of electrical installations, building regulations and the charger itself. Doing it yourself or hiring a DIY man could cause the installation to go wrong and you and your properties safety could be compromised.(this can include neighbours and surrounding area)
EV Charger compliance
Choosing a registered electrician also means the installation has been carried out to wiring regulations and installed to the manufactures instructions.Once the installation has been completed the electrical work will be certificated and the local building authorities will be notified correctly
