What is a PAT test?

This is a routine inspection of electrical appliances to check they are safe for continued use.A PAT test is a visual inspection and an in depth internal inspection using specialist equipment, this equipment or PAT tester checks for earth continuity, insulation resistance and polarity.

What is the purpose of an appliance test?

Its purpose is to prevent a work place injury or incident, this is also relevant for landlords, if you supply a tenant with an electrical appliance you are responsible for their safety

Portable appliance testing is not a legal requirement , but UK legislation states that businesses have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of their employees and supplied electrical equipment is maintained and in a safe condition.

You as the employer are responsible to ensure the safety of employees and members of the public, getting your items PAT tested is the best way to keep you covered.
