Getting commercial electrical work carried out

commercial electrical work in bristol

Things to consider if you want a commercial rewire or electrical work

If you own or have just bought a new business premises and you are looking to have a electrical work carried out, there are many things to initially consider

Your main incoming supply

This is a priority item, you will need to establish whether you have single phase or 3 phase already installed. If you have a single phase supply then this may be a problem if you need 3 phase equipment.

Power requirements

All the loading needs to be determined and the demand to be calculated by the electrician to see if your requirements are possible with your incoming supply.Things to think about, what do you need in order to run the business. For example most work places have a staff room and W/Cs, this will need to have power for appliances, hand driers and extraction.

  • Do you need to have machinery? What is the power of the machines?
  • Do you use appliances? for example hair driers, shirt printers and presses
  • Do you need sockets dedicated for computers?
  • Do you need forklift charging points?
  • Will you need heaters and or air conditioning?

This is just an example list. All power consumption needs to be accounted for and allowances made for future power and installations.

Lighting

The lighting system will depend on the nature of your business, each light fitting is designed for different uses

Things to consider when it comes to lighting

  • Do you need external or perimeter lighting
  • Would you want timers, sensors or switches to control the lights
  • Security lighting

Fire Detection

This is a must and will be an insurance requirement to have a working and up to date fire detection system

Security

Do you want to protect your premise from intruders and or unauthorised access?

Emergency Lighting

This will be an insurance requirement

Data

Most business require an internet connection, depending on the nature of the business you may need a few internet points or up to 100s of points including a main server room.
